Last Night at Linlithgow Speakers

Last night at Linlithgow Speakers we were lead by Sudha who gave us an innovative theme and there was no meagre quantity of ideas.

It was great to see 2 new members, Julie and Colin – welcome to Julie and welcome back to Colin.  Welcome to our new guest, Rosanna and our returning guest.

Cindy had us all amused with another of her cultural observations, this time the custom of changing into slippers when visiting someone in their home.  Cindy will be doing her 10th speech at the next meeting, so congratulations to her when it comes.

We had a thought provoking speech from Susan about initiatives to help alleviate the many people in the UK who encounter food insecurity.

Our table topics were delivered by Sue and I thought a little short – we really need to be quicker with our first half so that we have time for a few more in the second half.  That being said, it is about quality, not quantity, and we had some amusing and interesting stories.

I hope you are all looking forward to seeing our second group video when we were asking what you had learned whilst at Toastmasters – and the answers were not just about public speaking.

Of course, the prize for the best shoes went to Avril!

Thank you to everyone who took part last night, it is appreciated as the meetings do not run themselves.  Quick point about Sudha’s excellent ability to fill roles at the last minute – it is difficult to do this and adds a bit of pressure to the role of Toastmaster and VPE.  PLEASE help by signing up for roles and confirming your attendance.  It helps to make the meeting run more smoothly.

Don’t forget, the next official event we can all attend is the Area 33 Speech Contest on 23rd September.  All are welcome but please sign up for it – we do need to know in advance who is coming as it is being held in the offices of State Street Bank.  Consider taking on a role (judge, timer, counter etc) or come along to support Jim, Sheila and Stuart. If you are on Facebook, here is some more information.  You can contact Sudha through the Toastmasteclub.org website. https://www.facebook.com/events/1295336067261615
