Last Toastmaster Meeting of the Year

We had our last Toastmaster Meeting of the Toastmaster year last night.

Well done, Linlithgow Speakers, we made Presidents Distinguished Club, the highest accolade a club can achieve through the Distinguished Club Programme.

What fabulous speeches last night! Euan talked about the 3 R’s – Reduce, Recycle, Re-use, and gave us a fascinating history of the straw. He even showed us a re-usable metal straw complete with tiny brush for cleaning. Where did you get that?

Our other speech was a trip down Memory Lane from Jack. He remembers being taken down to air-raid shelters and sharing a toilet with the lady next door. We could listen to his tales all night.

It was lovely to see Sue back after a gap of a couple of years. She did not disappoint in her Table Topics evaluation. The session was lead by Harvey, who gave us some interesting quotes to respond to.

Our break included some home baking and some experimental, celery and lemon jelly. Sorry, Sheila, but I preferred Sharon’s fruit loaf! Thanks to everyone who provides treats for us to have with our tea.

Sheila was adroit (Word of the day) as she lead us through the evening, with contributions from everyone – so thanks to all who took part.

I thoroughly enjoyed our last Toastmaster meeting of the year and look forward to saying “Happy New Year” at the next one on 3rd July.
