To latibulate or not to latibulate?

Nobody latibulated at Linlithgow Speakers last night! In fact, we had an informative and enjoyable evening, complete with boxes of tissues in case anyone felt the need to cough or sneeze.

The theme was contests with a judging workshop – now if you are asked to be a judge, there is no need to latibulate.  This was followed by a contest speech. This is all in preparation for the Area 33 Speech Contest on 22 March. Sheila will be representing us and we were able to give her lots of feedback to ensure she does a great job!

latibulateWe had 5 guests at the club including 2 brand new to the experience. We welcome you all and hope you can see how we might benefit you. It was great to see Ausat back – he has been away for a few months and we look forward to hearing tales from his travels.

It was nice hearing from some of our guests as well as our members during Table Topics. Thanks to everyone who took part – our evaluators and role-takers.

We learned a bit more about contests and judging. We also learned that latibulate means to “hide oneself in a corner”.

Our next event is the Area 33 contest between 12 and 4pm in the Linlithgow Bowling Club, followed by our next meeting on 24 March at the Mel Grey Centre.

*** COVID19 UPDATE *** we will continue to follow government guidelines. We ask members to refrain from attending meetings if they are unwell and to follow the official “hygeine guidance” re hand-washing and tissues. We will also suspend hand-shaking in the club. Should the situation change to a “lockdown” position, we have provision to temporarily hold online meetings. Should such action be needed, we will inform members by email. Stay safe and well!
